Nancy Wilson, a jazz musician and a three-time Grammy Award winner was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on the 20th of February, 1937. She was married to Olden Wilson, an ironworker who had been employed for a considerable time as housekeeper. Nancy Wilson was the first child of six. Nancy was a child who listened to records from her father as well as his love for music. At the age of four, Nancy was aware that she wanted to be a musician. She developed her musical talent through participating in choirs of the church. In her early teens when she was 15, she got a spot on the talent show on T.V. and was able to regularly appear on the Skyline Melodies Tv Show while still in High School. The same year when she was working, she began performing in nightclubs. Nancy was 17 at the time she completed high school. After attending Ohio Central State College - today Central State University - for only one semester Nancy went on to become an experienced performer. In 1956 she made her debut album along with Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Big Band. They performed together between 1956 and 1958. Nancy began recording for Dot Records in 1956, while with the group. Cannonball Aderley suggested that she move to New York so as to improve her career. In 1959, Nancy moved into The Big Town. In less than a month she began singing at The Blue Morocco Night Club which is located at Boston Road near The Bronx. The representative of Adderley was able to hear her perform and promptly signed her. She made her recording debut in the year 1960, with one single following an agreement with Capitol records. Guess Who I See Today? Capitol published five Nancy Wilson records in just two years. At first, she focused on rhythm and blues under Adderley's influence, she began to move away from R&B and embraced music from jazz and torch. Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderley as well as their 1962 partnership helped her reach the top. The singer had her breakout song Tell Me the Truth by 1963.
